Community Health Evangelism

Many people have been asking the recent training that Linda went to and that I will be attending later this month. Here is a brief explanation of what CHE is all about. Over 400 different agencies have used this program since it was first developed in the early 1980's.
CHE (Community Health Evangelism) is a true best practices model for integrating evangelism and discipleship with community based development. The first programs were done in Africa in the 1980s.CHE was then taken to other parts of the world where it proved adaptable to a wide-range of situations. Today CHE is being used around the world by churches, denominations, mission agencies, non-government organizations, and national and local governments to lift whole communities out of cycles of poverty and disease. The work is wholistic, seeking to meet the whole need of individuals and communities through complete obedience to everything that Jesus commanded.
The training that Linda and I are doing now is aimed at understanding the Biblical basis for CHE and basic principles of wholistic community based development. We will learn the steps for implementing CHE, how to choose a target community, and strategies for entering the community. Also learning basic skills for raising awareness, organizing, and mobilizing the community for cooperative action through the formation of a development committee.
Looking to the near future Linda will be visiting some Neighborhood transformation sites in the LA County area.
